Dear lovely people at Fair Winds Shelter,
it’s been such a pleasure since we’ve adopted Cat/Kate last weekend!
After bringing her home we’ve left her in the same room as her litter tray for an hour so she knew where it was. Upon opening the door she initially hid behind the toilet for a while but with some treats and encouragement she made her first steps into the new home. She was very cautious and alert to start with and it took a few attempt to get her upstairs (we think she might have lived in a bungalow before). The night she sadly spent hiding under the bed until we “rescued” her in the morning for her first breakfast at home. From then on she warmed up so quickly and even sat on the sofa in the afternoon and exploring and scenting every corner in the house. And then on Sunday night only 36 hours after we brought her home she already cuddled and slept in the bed with us! She’s eating really well and we think she’s gained a little bit of weight and has a thicker fur. We’re guessing the absence of other cats in the house made her feel a lot more secure.
She is a truly lovely and affectionate girl and we often get up during the day to admire her cuteness when she naps. We’re currently looking to get some good insurance for her and a cat food subscription. We tried the dry food but she is absolutely not interested but by now she could easily eat 3 pouches a day of the wet food if we’re not careful!
Also on Sunday she went straight to the litter tray and we haven’t had any accidents so far! Such a smart girl!
We think she’s very excited to explore the outside but we’re keeping her inside for another 3 weeks to make sure she always comes back to us.
We are so lucky to have her and we believe it’s the perfect match! She often naps on her “drawer tower” during the day and watches us work and likes to sleep on the laundry basket at night.
She must’ve been a true spoiled cat before since she refuses to drink her water out of a bowl but prefers the human water glasses we keep leaving around. See video attached.
I hope she feels at home here but please be assured that she’s a spoiled and loved little kitty!
I hope you guys are staying safe and well!
Lots of love,
Lea, Sam and Cat/Kate
