Dear all
It’s over six months now since we adopted Alfie after he’d been left with you as his owner had died.
He’s had his injections but he still smelt. That’s ALL been sorted thanks to you, he’s had all his back teeth out at your vet in Oadby and wow he no longer smells. He’s had a full check up by our vet as well and they think the same as you.
He’s fitted in well and came right before lockdown which meant we were here and he had a great opportunity to become a member of the family. Our Granddaughter stayed with us as well during this time and he loves spending time with her and both of us. He loves a fuss 100%, no fighting or biting from him at all.
His home is our whole home and he sleeps wherever he chooses. The garden, after a number of times, has been “Alfie” proofed and he roams there as he pleases. We have nicknamed him “Houdini” as he still looks to get out but he can’t escape or anyone in. This also means NO collar for him which we know he prefers.
The one bit of news that you didn’t know in this time is about two months ago he went blind and our feeling is that he is NOT able to see at all now. This hasn’t stopped him at all. As he knows the house well and he wanders around like he owns the place (he does) we make sure to keep things in the same place. If he does bang into anything he just shifts and listens for us. We bang the sofa to let him know where to sit and he moves around a LOT.
All in all having an older cat has meant we will never go back and have young/baby animals again. The older boys know what they want and are easier to deal with.
Tell people about us that are not sure of an older boy or girl, we are big advocates. We could be the push they need.
Thank you for letting us have him. There are some pictures below taken by our granddaughter.
